Hi, I’m DIANA

I am the owner of Blooming Families online counselling service, and I am a psychotherapist. I am passionate about helping parents navigate the complexities of being a parent and maintaining a healthy mental well-being.

I recognise the challenges parents face in parenting their teens in a modern world, added to this mix, is the influence of social media in the way teens interact, communicate, and process information. My aim is to bridge the gap between you and your teen by offering you online counselling services tailored to meet your specific needs. The aim is to empower parents so they can nurture their teens to grow and thrive.

As a parent of adult sons, I understand the challenges of raising children as a single parent and being a couple and have noticed how both these scenarios have impacted their personalities. Also, being a grandmother to three granddaughters has given me an awareness of how modern society influences them as individuals which has inspired me to impart my wisdom on their young minds.

It gives me immense joy to support a mother or father who is feeling guilty, shame, or plagued with the internal and external judgment of raising their teens because I believe, parents need nurturing too.

WHO I SUPPORT

The parents, I have worked with have expressed emotional relief when sharing their problems. Having someone that listens without judgement, who accepts them and understands their challenges, allows them to let go a little of the weight they are carrying. As they gain trust in the therapeutic relationship, they realise they are not alone and are able, to be honest about their feelings, be open to receiving help, and learn new tools to assist them.

experience

My work experiences extend from being a Family Support Worker, Therapeutic Parent Worker, Young People’s Advisor, Young People’s Counsellor, and School Counsellor in primary and secondary education. I have supported families in social services as an external professional and have worked as a Family Therapist with organisations and in private practice.

qualifications

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have a diploma in person-centred counselling, certificates in cognitive behaviour therapy and solution focus brief therapy. I have a BA honours degree in psychology and counselling studies, and a master’s degree in psychology, and is advanced trained in Family Systems Therapy.
